TPMS light indicates a puncture or tyre pressure imbalance.
There are two types of TPMS monitoring - Direct & Indirect
Direct TPMS monitoring
Each tyre has a sensor behind the valve that communicates with the car & alerts the car of a tyre pressure issues.
If the yellow exclamation mark is blinking, a sensor is malfunctioning.
Sensors have a lifespan of approx 8 years - the internal batteries run out & are usually not replaceable as they are sealed units.
Most cars tend to have this kind.
Indirect TPMS monitoring
Each tyre revolution is measured as you drive along.
If one tyre revolution is increased or decreased (usually due to too much or too little air), then the TPMS light will appear.
This should be reset after tyre changes and frequently reappears a day or two after tyre replacement.
Frequently present on the VW brands.
Our services:
If TPMS light is on (not blinking), we can check for a puncture & set tyre pressures followed by resetting the light.
If TPMS light is blinking - we can check the functionality of each sensor, re-programme them to the car or replace one if necessary.
Can usually be resolved fairly easily.
